Ragamuffins Hair in Kenton, Exeter raise a whopping £5000 for Force Cancer Charity
Ragamuffins Hair located in Kenton, Exeter, recently celebrated their 20th Anniversary by giving back to their community and hosting a charity event to raise money for local Exeter cancer support charity, Force (Friends of the Oncology and Radiotherapy Centre, Exeter).
To celebrate 20 years of business, salon owner Nikki Farrant and the Ragamuffins team held a fundraising event to raise awareness and money for Force Cancer Charity, a local charity who work to raise money to aid research, purchase state of the art equipment to improve cancer treatment and provide support to cancer patients in the Exeter region. Many of Ragamuffins’ clients have received support from Force over the years and the salon felt its 20th birthday was a great reason for them to get fundraising.
The event took place in Kenton Village Hall on the evening of 12th November 2016 and was attended by over 150 clients, members of the local community, as well as volunteers and representatives of Force Cancer Charity and Organic Colour Systems (the natural and organic brand of products used exclusively in the salon since its beginning). Combined with a raffle, auction, tickets sales, donations and other fundraising activities leading up to the event, a whopping total of £5000 was raised for the charity.
Spokesperson for FORCE, Naomi Cole comments “We are incredibly grateful to Nikki, Rick and everyone else at Ragamuffins for choosing FORCE Cancer Charity to benefit from their 20th Anniversary fundraising. As a local cancer charity, the support that we receive from Kenton and the surrounding area is superb, this was reflected in the generous auction bids placed on the night, the week-long fundraising at the salon and the generosity of Herb UK. The total raised was incredible. All of our work continues to rely entirely on voluntary donations, so many thanks again to everyone involved – this money will make a huge difference to local people affected by cancer.”
Nikki Farrant, Ragamuffins salon owner was overwhelmed by the support from her loyal clients for the local community and said “I couldn’t have asked for a better evening. The community came together to support this amazing charity that has helped so many and in doing so have enabled us to raise an incredible amount of money. We all had a fabulous time and we would like to thank all those involved for making the evening very special”.
